Beef and Broccoli Stir-fry

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds top sirloin steaks - sliced 1/4" thick
  • 1 medium onion - sliced thinly
  • 2 medium heads broccoli
  • 2 teaspoons ginger root - grated
  • 1/2 cup sou sauce
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar - firm packed
  • 1 clove Barlic - minced
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil - divided

Directions

  1. In small bowl combine soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic and pepper.
  2. Set aside.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in large skillet over medium high heat.
  4. Add beef, and stir-fry sauce, cook until almost cooked through, about 2 minutes.
  5. Transfer beef to a plate and cover to keep warm.
  6. Heat remaining oil in skillet, add onion and stir-fry sauce, cook for 5 minutes.
  7. Cut broccoli into florets (about 4 cups), add to skillet with soy sauce mixture, add ginger.
  8. Bring to boil and cook, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.
  9. Serve with, rice and serve warm.
